The Mexico-United States border. Processes of bordering in the American continent from the end of the 20th century to the beginning of the 21st century

Kateřina Březinová

Abstract

The article deals with the borders in the Americas from the end of the 20th to the first decades of the 21st century against a larger historical background. It invites to understand borders as a result of socially constructed processes of bordering and differentiation, namely the simultaneous processes of debordering, rebordering, and border securitization after 2001. This approach is then tested in the case study of bordering processes between the US and Mexico up to the Trump presidency.
