Professor at the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University and at the Faculty of Law and Administration of University of Szczecin; Ph.D., Habilitated Doctor in law. Fields of Expertise: Roman Civil Law, Civil Procedure, Notary Law, Bankruptcy and Enforcement Law. Graduated in law from Vilnius University in 1993. In 1993-1994 he studied at the Faculty of Law of Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and obtained the title of Master of Laws (LL.M.). At the same time, at the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University, he was preparing his PhD thesis on civil procedure, which he defended in 1996. In 2003, at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Lodz, he received the academic degree of the Habilitated Doctor in Law. Since graduation he has been employed at the Department of Private Law of Vilnius University, first as an assistant (1993-1997), then as an associate professor (1998-2002), and as a professor (since 2003). He was the head of the Department of Civil Procedure and Roman Law. In 1997-2002 he was a Vice-Dean, in 2002-2012 – a Dean of the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University.
