In recent years, there has been growing awareness of the need for alternative ways to resolve conflicts that arise in society without relying on traditional, force-based legal methods. This trend has led many countries to focus on developing and promoting alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods, such as arbitration and mediation, which provide more collaborative, non-litigious options for resolving disputes. ADR: Arbitration and Mediation is the first scientific journal in Central and Eastern Europe devoted exclusively to alternative dispute resolution. The journal is the platform for exchanging ideas, aiming to bridge theoretical concepts with practical applications in ADR. This exchange seeks to make scientific research in ADR, meaningful and useful for real-world application. The journal draws from multiple social sciences, especially law, to offer readers a well-rounded view of ADR research. Articles published in the journal provide precise, well-researched data, logical arguments, and innovative ideas. Additionally, the journal presents research findings in a way accessible for practical implementation in society and the economy, ensuring that these insights reach those who can benefit from them. Since its founding in 2008, ADR: Arbitration and Mediation has consistently published new research, and in 2023, it transitioned to an open-access, online format. An Editorial Board manages the journal based at the Faculty of Law and Administration at UMCS in Lublin, Poland. Published twice a year, it includes research papers, reports, case commentaries, and updates on significant ADR-related events, catering to academic and practical interests in the field.
