Peer Review Process
The article review process in the journal Kultura i Historia is based on international standards aimed at ensuring scientific integrity and the high quality of published texts. The review process in our journal consists of several key stages:
- Article Submission:
Authors submit their articles electronically via the journal management system. Before submission, the article must be prepared according to editorial requirements, formatted accordingly, and include the full text along with appropriate abstracts and keywords. - Preliminary Editorial Evaluation:
After submission, the editor-in-chief, along with the editorial team, performs a preliminary assessment of the article. The purpose of this assessment is to verify if the article meets basic formal requirements (e.g., relevance to the journal's thematic scope, linguistic accuracy, structure of the text). If the article meets these requirements, it is sent for review. If not, the author will be informed about the need for revisions or rejection of the article. - Assignment of Reviewers:
Based on the article's topic, the editors select two reviewers—experts in the field who are not affiliated with the author (double-blind review system). The reviewers are tasked with assessing the formal and substantive quality of the article. - Review:
The reviewers receive the article and detailed guidelines for evaluation. The review includes, among other things, an assessment of the theoretical quality of the work, methodology, coherence of arguments, and the significance of the work in the context of existing research. - Editorial Decision:
After receiving the reviews, the editorial team analyzes the reviewers' opinions and makes a decision regarding the article's future. There are four possible decisions: - Acceptance without revisions: The article is ready for publication.
- Acceptance with minor revisions: The article requires a few minor revisions suggested by the reviewers before it can be published.
- Rejection: The article does not meet the journal's requirements or does not contribute sufficiently new insights to the research field.
- In case of conflicting reviews: The editorial team may send the article to a third reviewer or make a decision regarding publication on its own.
- Feedback to the Author:
After the decision is made, the authors receive the editorial opinion along with the reviewers' comments, which may require revisions. If the article is accepted, the authors are informed about the planned publication. If the article requires revisions, the authors are given a specific period to make changes and resubmit the work. In case of rejection, the authors are informed about the reasons for the decision. - Ethical Standards:
All stages of the review process are carried out with the highest ethical standards and respect for the principles of scientific integrity, including the protection of the privacyof authors and reviewers. - Experimentally, selected articles are also reviewed by artificial intelligence.
