University Professor; habilitated doctor in law; Judge of the Supreme Court, member of the Supreme Court College. Professor Demendecki specialises scientifically in civil procedural law, including international and comparative law and in the system of legal protection bodies. He graduated from law studies at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (Lublin, UMCS). In 2004, he obtained the degree of Doctor of Laws and in 2016 the degree of Habilitated Doctor of Laws. Since 2001, Professor Demendecki has been employed at the Faculty of Law and Administration of UMCS; since 2018, as a professor in the Department of Civil Procedure and International Commercial Law. He has held scientific internships at the Universities of Minsk, Pilsen, Vilnius, Lviv. From 2014 to 2018 he was a judicial officer and a member of the Scientific Council of the Scientific and Training Centre at the National Council of Judicial Officers (2014–2017). Since 2012, he was also an advocate. From 2012 to 2015, he was a member of the problem team for civil procedure of the Civil Law Codification Commission. From 2013 to 2015, he was an expert on business and energy law, substantive and procedural civil law, comparative law at the Business Centre Club in Warsaw. In 2007, he became an expert in the inter-ministerial committee for freedom of economic activity at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. In 2007–2014, he was a member of supervisory and management bodies of municipal and owned by the State Treasury business entities. Since 2010, he has been an expert and reviewer at the National Centre for Research and Development. Professor Demendecki has published several monographs, academic textbooks and commentaries and over 100 other scientific studies, including articles and glosses. He is a member of the editorial board of several national and international scientific journals. He is an ordinary member of the Scientific Society “Towarzystwo Naukowe Procesualistów Cywilnych”.
