Peer Review Process

1. All submitted texts (articles, reviews, reports) are subject to initial qualification and checked whether they comply with the issue’s subject and the journal’s profile. The article is evaluated by members of editorial office and theme editor of a given issue. Accepted texts are then reviewed internally.

2. Two independent Reviewers from outside the department of the article’s Author
review the text qualified for publishing.

3. The reviewers have a degree of at least an assistant-professor (doktor habilitowany)
and are chosen according to the subject of the submitted text.

4. For texts written in a foreign language, at least one of the reviewers has a degree of at
least an assistant-professor (doktor habilitowany) in a given language or is a native speaker from an affiliated institution.

5. The reviewer must sign a declaration stating that there is no conflict of interest between him and the Author. The following situations are regarded as a conflict of interest: direct personal relations (family or legal relationship, conflict); work relationships, especially for subordinates; direct scholarly cooperation in the two years preceding the review.

6. The review has a written form and ends with a clear conclusion on whether the article should be published (possibly including changes and additions) or not.

7. When the reviews are not unanimous, the text is reviewed by a third person who
makes the final decision.

8. The Author receives both reviews of his/her article. If the reviewer suggests changes, the Author is entitled to voice an opinion about them through the editorial office. In extraordinary circumstances, when the Author proves the suggested changes or comments to be unjustified, the editorial office shall decide whether or not the text is to be published.

It finds application also in instances when the authors are members of the editorial office and Academic Board of the journal.

13. In case of double-blind review process procedure and a positive review, the Reviewer is entitled to obtain information about the identity of the Author. When the review is negative, the editorial office discloses no such information.
