The Academic Library: A Partner in the Research and Teaching Process

Abstract


The aim of the text is to discuss the contexts, in which activities aimed at the meeting of the information needs of users are fulfilled, within the framework of supporting the process of research and teaching by the academic libraries, by means of implementing of the principles of quality management. Moreover, an attempt was made to present some proposals of change, or improvements, taking into account the material and intellectual resources, which are available to the library, and to the university as well. Observations are focused on a model of research and teaching process, using generalizations coming from research results of the information science and librarianship.
