Peer Review Process

1. Each submitted article is first subject to a formal assessment, the purpose of which is to verify the manuscript’s compliance with the journal’s editorial requirements. If minor deficiencies are identified, the text may be returned to the author for completion. In the event of a significant breach of the journal’s requirements, the manuscript may be rejected at this stage.

2. Articles that meet the formal criteria are then referred to the pre-selection procedure.

3. Manuscripts selected during pre-selection are forwarded for peer review after being checked in an anti-plagiarism system.

4. Reviewers are selected by the Editor-in-Chief in consultation with members of the editorial team. In justified cases, the editorial office may seek the opinion of appropriate members of the Scientific Council.

5. Each article is evaluated by two external, independent, and anonymous reviewers.

6. To eliminate conflicts of interest, persons employed by the same institution with which the manuscript’s author is affiliated are not appointed as reviewers.

7. Authors and reviewers remain anonymous to one another; the evaluation process is conducted in the double-blind review model.

8. By accepting an invitation to evaluate a manuscript submitted to Annales Universitatis Mariae Curie-Skłodowska. Sectio J. Paedagogia-Psychologia, the reviewer submits a declaration of no conflict of interest Reviewer’s Declaration. A conflict of interest is understood in particular as relationships arising from competition, cooperation, or other personal, financial, or professional connections between the reviewer and any of the authors or institutions associated with the submitted text.

9. The review is prepared electronically, using the reviewer’s individual account in the journal system available at https://journals.umcs.pl/j. The journal management system prevents mutual identification of the manuscript’s author and the reviewer.

10. The article is evaluated on the basis of the review form. The reviewer also formulates a final recommendation concerning the acceptance of the text for publication or its rejection.

11. The reviewer may indicate one of the following recommendations: acceptance of the submitted text, the need to introduce revisions, referral of the text for re-review, or rejection of the manuscript.

12. In disputed cases, and also when reviews are divergent, the decision on further processing of the article is made by the editorial team. The editorial office may then appoint an additional reviewer. Only texts that have received two positive reviews are qualified for publication.

13. The editorial secretary forwards to the author the comments contained in the review and the final recommendations formulated by the reviewer.

14. The author is obliged to respond substantively to all comments and conclusions raised in the review, using the form provided for this purpose.

15. The final decision on accepting an article for publication is made by the Editor-in-Chief after analysing the reviews, the author’s response to the reviewers’ comments, and the final recommendations.

16. An alphabetical list of reviewers is published once a year.

17. Article reviews are archived
