Education through Work in the Voluntary Labour Corps

Abstract

The article attempts to present the specificity of the operation of Voluntary Labour Corps as an institutional state institution that implements in practice the idea of education through work. A brief historical outline of their development since 1932, when the Voluntary Labour Teams was established, is presented. Moreover, the potential addressees of the Voluntary Labour Corps were presented in the family, social and educational context. By synthesizing knowledge in the field of three areas of work education through work, that can be distinguished within the activities of Voluntary Labour Corps, the article presents specific forms of education and vocational preparation of young people, activities aimed at social prevention and socialization, and the scope of activities in the process of supporting the professional development of students. Voluntary Labour Corps have a proven profile of the graduate model that they are aiming for, and then offer continuation of support at the Voluntary Labour Corps Alumni Club and monitor the fate of their graduates. Voluntary Labour Corps is a proven and unique in Europe, and at the same time a modern and constantly learning institution that implements the chance of young people to equalize their start in life and work.
