Topicality of the Assumptions of Apprenticeship at the Workplace – Craftwork Example

Abstract

This article is referring to main challenges identified during the 40^th anniversary conference of labour pedagogy. The author made an attempt to verify topicality of issues in the aspects of craftwork apprenticeship being realised today in the workplace. Professor Tadeusz W. Nowacki has always highly valued social-occupational group of craftsmen and pointed to their role in the field of development of upbringing systems, and by showing patriotic traditions, he also exposed their capabilities for adaptation. The results of the author’s own research and the review of lately examined topics in the field of vocational education require direct us to undertake some reflection on upgrading and dissemination of apprenticeship system in Poland – especially on the basis of the Copenhagen Process achievements and works conducted by European research centres. This issue seems to be of particular importance in the context of such areas as international comparison and discourse on the possibilities of development and perspectives of the work pedagogy in the eve of its 50^th anniversary. Craftwork apprenticeship also in the sphere of contemporary challenges (e.g. common lack of social trust) shows that the main message of this discipline, expressed in the examination of relations human – upbringing – work, still remains actual.
