Focus and Scope

The aim of the journal "Annales UMCS sectio G (Ius)" is to disseminate the results of scientific research of a high substantive level and of significant importance for the development of science and to introduce these results into international circulation. The scope of the journal's interests includes research in the discipline of law, as well as in the field of political science and public administration, if the presented research results concern law or if the research is conducted from the perspective of this discipline. In addition, we publish articles relating to law in the context of internal security. The Editorial Team accept for publication original works that have great cognitive value for the study of law and legal practice and may be of interest not only to the domestic but also to the international academic community.

The journal is available on an Open Access basis.

Fees for publication

The authors are not charged any fees to be paid to the editorial board. Publishing in Annales Universitatis Mariae Curie-Skłodowska sectio G (Ius) is completely free of charge.

Peer Review Process

Each article is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers from outside the institute.

1. For articles written in a language other than Polish, at least one reviewer is affiliated with a foreign academic centre but of different nationality than the Author.
2.  A model is preferred in which the Author or authors are not aware of each other’s identity (double-blind review process).
3. In other instances, the reviewer is obliged to sign a declaration saying there is no conflict of interest. The following situations are regarded as a conflict of interest: a) direct personal relations (family or legal relationship, conflict), b) work relationships, especially for subordinates c) direct scholarly cooperation in the two years preceding the review.
4. The review must take a written form and end with an unambiguous conclusion on whether or not the article should be published.
5. Names of reviewers of given publications or issues are not published. The journal publishes a list of reviewers for all issues once a year.
6.  Editor-in-chief assigns the reviewers after consulting the editorial office staff. The editor-in-chief consults members of academic board as needed.
7. Author of the article is bound to respond to the notes and comments of the review. 

Publication Frequency

Articles for the first issue must be submitted until the end of April of a given calendar year.

Articles for the second issue must be submitted until the end of September of a given calendar year.

The Editors reserve that if a sufficient number of texts are collected, an issue of the journal may be published earlier.

Open Access Policy

Annales UMCS, sec. G (Ius) is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI (Budapest Open Access Initiative) definition of open access. The articles are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY).

Statement of the Ethical Principles of the Journal Annales UMCS - sectio G (Ius)

The statement on the ethical principles of the journal has been prepared based on the guidelines of the Committee of Publication Ethics - COPE (www.publicationethics.org) and the guidelines of the Elsevier publishing house. To ensure high quality of published texts, the journal Annales UMCS sectio G (Ius) shall adhere to certain ethical standards.

Editorial Board

1. In the case of multi-authorship, the editorial board of Annales UMCS sectio G (Ius) requires that the contribution of individual authors to the text be specified. In such a situation, the affiliation, percentage of the creative contribution to the paper should be specified for each author. It is necessary to identify the author of the concept, assumptions and methods used in the development of the publication. This responsibility is first and foremost vested in the person who submits the text for publication.
2. The editorial board of Annales UMCS sectio G (Ius) shall document all manifestations of scientific dishonesty, in particular infringements of the principles of ethics in science.
3. In particular, so-called Ghostwriting and Guest Authorship is deemed by the editorial board a manifestation of scientific dishonesty. Ghostwriting means any situations in which a particular person makes a significant contribution to the publication without being credited as one of the authors of the publication, or without mentioning his/her role in the acknowledgements contained in the publication. Guest Authorship is understood by the editorial board as all situations in which the author's contribution is actually negligible or non-existent, but he or she is still identified as the author or co-author of the publication.
4. All manifestations of scientific dishonesty found by the editorial board shall be disclosed and notified to competent entities, in particular to the institutions hiring the author, and to academic and publishing associations.

Peer-reviewers

Designated peer-reviewers are supposed to guarantee independence and lack of conflict of interest in the relationship between the reviewer and the author, which entails the lack of direct personal relationship, professional dependence and direct research cooperation for the period of two years prior to preparing the review.

Authors

1. Publications submitted to Annales UMCS sectio G (Ius) should be original, reliable, objective and should match the subject matter of the journal.
2. The editorial board of Annales UMCS sectio G (Ius) does not accept texts that have already been published in whole or in part in other journals.

Plagiarism
Plagiarism in any form, in particular appropriation of the scientific output, theoretical concept or final conclusions, is not permitted. Cases of committing plagiarism shall be disclosed and reported to the competent authorities by the editorial board.
