Career and IT Skills in the Shared Service Sector – University of Lodz Case Study

Abstract


Shared Services sector became on of the main places hiring accounting and finance specialists as well as professionals with IT skills. New entrants are opened in Poland every year, employing about 200,000 people and increasingly seeking candidates with higher qualifications. The paper discusses favorable location factors for the SSC and BPO underlining the important role of the talent and competence pull as a prerequisite for the success of a shared services center and considering the quality and performance of business services provided by these centers. The result of the research conducted among the University of Lodz students is presented and short discussion on the state of knowledge and their expectations in relation to employment in some units is provided.
