Kultur im Denken des heiligen Thomas von Aquin
Abstract
In diesem Artikel rekonstruiere und analysiere ich kritisch den Kulturbegriff des heiligen Thomas von Aquin. Die historische Rekonstruktion dient dem Zweck, (a) die Grenzen der Kulturtheorie des heiligen Thomas sowie (b) ihre Relevanz (und ihre Vitalität im Kontext anderer philosophischer Disziplinen, einschließlich der Wirtschaftsphilosophie) aufzuzeigen. Obwohl Thomas von Aquin die Frage der Kultur in seinen Schriften nicht direkt berücksichtigte, wird das beabsichtigte Ziel erreicht, indem das diskutierte Thema in den breiteren Kontext seiner Ethik der Tugenden gestellt wird. Indem ich zu Beginn anerkenne, daß die Kultur in gewissem Sinne die Seele der Gemeinschaft ist, zeige ich, daß die Kultur gerade als geistlicher Aspekt der communitas Adressat der Pflichten ist, die sich aus der Tugend der Gerechtigkeit ergeben. Dann stelle ich in einer detaillierten Analyse fest, dass die Tugend, die das Thema Kultur in einem Gemeinschaftskontext am besten erfasst, Pietas (in polnischen Übersetzungen als Patriotismus oder Pietismus bezeichnet) ist. Ihr Gegenstand ist das, was ein Mensch der Gemeinschaft schuldet, aus der er kommt. Ich bespreche die grundlegenden Wege der Verwirklichung der Tugend von Pietas – Ehrfurcht und Dienst – und zeige, wie sie unter dem Aspekt der Kultur verwirklicht werden.
