The New Silk Road, "Win-Win Cooperation", and Socialism with Chinese Characteristics

Adam Nobis

Abstract

For several years now, China has been implementing the New Silk Road project. It is a massive undertaking to construct and up-grade the country’s transport infrastructure including   railroads, roads, bridges, air and sea ports. It also involves the development of international relations and the global order along new principles and values. The purpose of the paper is to examine whether and to what extent the principles and values of the New Silk Road project combine the values of Chinese socialism. If so, what does this association consist in? The analysis leads to the conclusion that the ideological messages of the New Silk Road project and of Chinese socialism have both Confucian roots.
