Editorial Policies

Focus and Scope

Lublin Pedagogical Journal is published by the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University and the Faculty of Education and Psychology. The journal is indexed in: CEJSH, ERIH PLUS, DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals), ICI Journals Master List   (ICV 2021 = 97.25). Each year, four volumes are published, which are devoted to studies presenting pedagogy and interdisciplinary research. It aims to promote scientific exchanges of views, research approaches and research results in the field of contemporary pedagogical problems, including education and its multifaceted functions and conditioning. The journal publishes original research articles and review articles, with a preference for studies displaying innovative research approaches.

Lublin Pedagogical Journal is included in the list of academic journals of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. For publication in LPR authors received 70 points.

Peer Review Process

  1. All manuscripts submitted for publication are reviewed and carefully checked for compatibility considering the concordance between the submitted text and the criteria required by the editor. If the criteria are not met, an article may be resent to the author or rejected because it does not complies with the editorial requirements.
  2. The articles which comply with formal requirements usually undergo a pre-selection process.
  3. Only those articles which have been pre-selected are sent to the reviewers.
  4. The editor-in-chief is obliged to mention the potential reviewers. The quality of each manuscript is judged by two external, independent and anonymous reviewers (experts).
  5. The author’s/authors’ and the reviewers’ identities are concealed to ensure the double-blind peer review process of the manuscript.
  6. The reviewer is obliged to judge the article’s quality by filling in a specific peer review form as well as to make the final recommendation or decision on the manuscript.
  7. The secretary notifies the author of the peer review’s content, i.e. critical comments, suggestions. The author is also familiarized with the reviewer’s final recommendation concerning the article.
  8. The final decision on the acceptance of an article is made by the editor-in-chief who has been aware of the reviews’ content, reviewers’ recommendations and the author’s  responses to the critical comments of the reviewers.
  9. The alphabetical list of the reviewers is published once a year
  10. The reviews of the manuscripts are archived.

Open Access Policy

Lublin Pedagogical Journal is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI (Budapest Open Access Initiative) definition of open access. The articles are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY).

Publication ethics policy

The ethics statements for Lublin Pedagogical Journal are based on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors 

The rules of publication ethics accepted by „Lublin Pedagogical Journal” editorial board are focused on both maintaining appropriate moral standards of scholarly publication policy and preventing infringement in this respect.

Each manuscript which is submitted to „Lublin Pedagogical Journal” is checked for its formal compatibility with the journal standards of publication ethics, scientific reliability and research quality.

Rules of Publication Ethics which are applicable to the Editorial Board

1.Being able to conform with the current publication ethics rules, standards and preventing the effects of inappropriate authorship practices.

2.The quality of text is judged exclusively in terms of the content. Race, gender, religion, social status, nationality or political opinions of Authors have no effect on the evaluation of articles.

3.The members of the Editorial Board/Team are not allowed to disclose any piece of information on the submitted scientific work to an unauthorized third party. The authorized data access Persons are: Author, nominated Reviewers/Referees, members of Editorial Board/Team, editors and publisher.

4.The Editorial Board/Team does not assign the reviewer’s role to those persons who are in conflict of interest with Author/Authors of articles, e.g. they either subordinate to Author/Authors or are in close personal relationships with Author/Authors (provided that the Editorial Board/Team is familiar with this problem).

5.Looking after the quality and reliability of scholarly publication. In the event of the suspicions of unfair authorship practices (plagiarism, fabricating, falsifying research results) the Editorial Board/Team is obliged to make a decision to either reject or withdraw an article from the journal.

The Rules which are applicable to Reviewers

1. Prior to the assessment of an article Reviewer should notify of her/his credentials, factual competence, the practical opportunity to compose a review at the appointed time. If she/he has any doubts, she/he ought to refuse to do it.

2. If any unpredictable, significant reasons for the unmet deadline for a submission of a review occur, Reviewer will be obliged to notify the Publisher of this fact.

3. Reviewer is not allowed to write a review if there is any conflict of interest, even if such a conflict is likely to occur.

4. Reviewer is obliged to make a fair, reliable and impartial judgment about the publication. The critical comments/remarks composed by Reviewers should be both constructive and factual (reflecting the actual content of an article).

5. Reviewer is obliged to preserve confidentiality about the information included in the submitted review, preventing the access of an unauthorized third party to its content.

6. All reviews are anonymous and the Editorial Board/Team does not make the Author’s personal data accessible to Reviewers.

7. Reviewer should notify the Editorial Board/Team of any suspicion of a copyright breach in the peer-reviewed text and she/he should pay attention to all flaws and errors concerning references.

8. Reviewer is expected to make the clear, final recommendation about the publication.

The Rules which are applicable to Authors

1.The Publishing Company accepts solely authentic, original research articles by Authors.

2. The author’s usage of the copyrighted material such as: extensive text citations, illustrations borrowed from other Authors’ publications must be clearly marked.

3. In the event of co-authored works, all Authors are obliged to fill in the form known as an authorship contribution statement pertaining to the conceptual theory and the execution of a research project.

4. Author is expected to submit the formal statement  in order to validate that the article sent as an attachment is her/his own work, it does not violate the copyright owned by a third party and that neither it has been published before nor it has been considered for publication elsewhere.

5. It is Author’s responsibility to disclose all potential financial resources regarding the project during her/his work on it, as well as to note the contribution of scholarly, research institutions, associations and other entities (affiliation and appropriate point of reference) to the paper preparation.

6. Author is obliged to conform with the rule of processing data accessibility. Author may be asked to deliver the unprocessed data which have been used to prepare the submitted publication.

7. If Author encounters any major errors and imprecise expressions, clumsy phrases in her/his text, she/he will be obliged to notify the journal’s Editorial Board/Team of these problems as soon as possible in order to withdraw the text or to correct the potential mistakes.

8. Author is obliged to send either the English or Polish text which is written correctly.
