Marek Baran is Associate Professor of Hispanic Linguistics at the University of Łódź (Director of the Department of Spanish Language and Applied Linguistics) and at the University of Gdańsk (Poland). He is the President of Asociación Polaca de Hispanistas (Polish Association of Hispanists). His principal lines of investigation are: sociopragrmatics, intercultural studies, discourse analysis, traductology, terminology and contrastive grammar. He gave various national and international conferences (University of Buenos Aires, University of Venice, University of Lisbon, University of Cádiz, University of Almería, University of Málaga, University of Giessen…). He is also the author of Emotividad y convención sociopragmática (2010), Metáforas cristalizadas en terminologías de lengua española (2003), coautor de L’adjectif épithète en français, espagnol et polonais ˗ étude contrastive (2018), La vie en rose.
