SLT Education at the University of Maria Curie-Skłodowska. History – Present – Future

Abstract


Lublin is the capital of Polish Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) and this fact has its historical justification as well as support in evaluating both the scientific-research and didactic potential, particularly in connection with the activities of the Department of Logopedics/SLT and Applied Linguistics of the University of Maria Curie-Skłodowska and Polish Logopedic Society. The article discusses the history of the formation of SLT in Poland, strongly associated with Lublin, and also presents Lublin SLT educational traditions and the current teaching and research activities of the Department of Logopedics/SLT and Applied Linguistics of the UMCS.
