Abstract

In this article we discuss interdisciplinary interactions of the verbal and visual principles in works of the Belarusian-Polish photographer Yan Bulgak (1876–1950) and the Belarusian artist Yazep Drazdovich (1888–1954) who combined two points of view on reality – the vision of artist and understanding of writer. In the center of attention there is an urgent problem. On the basis of the typology offered by V. Wolf and O. Karkavina the paper presents the connection between “verbal” (fiction) and “visual” (painting, graphics, photo) communication in their art works both at the intracomposition level (borrowing of receptions, principles of the other art form organization; stylistics imitation of a certain author or direction in art; synthesis; genre cross-fertilization) and at the extracomposition level (by writing book writing and in visual practices the authors address  the same subjects and motifs, and develop a certain list of problems).
Y. Bulgak and Y. Drazdovich`s heritage, considered through a prism of the interspecific relations, represents the specific esthetic phenomenon showing a three-dimensional view of the world.
