Contra spem spero? Ostatnia polityczna walka Cycerona
Streszczenie w języku polskim
Celem artykułu jest pokazanie, jak zmieniała się nadzieja Marka Tulliusza Cycerona w ostatnich latach jego życia na odzyskanie republiki po zabójstwie Cezara. Autorka analizuje informacje zawarte w zachowanych listach i pismach filozoficznych Cycerona pisanych w tym czasie. Ich przekaz nie jest jednoznaczny, co powoduje, że mogą być one współcześnie różnie interpretowane. Choć Cyceron nie był zwolennikiem dyktatury Cezara, to po jego zamordowaniu był świadom tego, że tyrania jednak dalej trwa i szanse na odbudowanie republiki są niewielkie. Mimo to podjął ostatnią walkę, w której oręż stanowiły mowy przeciwko Antoniuszowi oraz pisma filozoficzne, których treść wykazuje wiele podobieństw do myśli Cycerona wyrażonych w Filipikach. A wszystko to mówca czynił po to, by dowieść, że zasłużył na pamięć potomnych.
